| What We Do |
We organise various projects that cover important subjects like science, math, and proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written, spoken, reading and understanding). These projects happen all year round and are designed to open the minds of the children and develop a love for learning and passion for being the best that they can be. |

| Total Immersion Camp (TIC) |
TIC is an intensive 21-day English camp for children about to enter secondary school. They would use English in creative ways to explore and understand their self, their surroundings and culture through role-plays, book or movie discussions, games, site visits and outbound activities. In view of this, the Tamil Foundation set up the Total Immersion Camp (TIC) project in 2003.
In its introductory year, a total of 40 students attended the camp and the project achieved a great success. This led to a second successful Total Immersion Camp in the following year where the total number of students was increased to 100. In 2005, the number of camps increased to 4 locations throughout Malaysia, with a total of 205 students. In 2006, the number of camps was increased to 9 locations throughout Malaysia, with a total of 392 students. In 2007, it is planned that the TIC will run at 9 locations throughout Malaysia, with the target number of 600 students
.
In 2007, 520 students from
9 centers nationwide benefited from this camp. In 2008,
we had 12 centers nationwide with 725 students
participating. In 2009, we had 18 centres with a total
of 597 students.

Aims and Objectives
The programme aims to create a smoother transition for Tamil school students entering secondary schools,
enabling them to exude self-confidence and gain proficiency in English.
Course Content
The programme will be taught in three levels - basic, pre-intermediate and intermediate. Each level is
covered over a seven-day period, and will focus on verbal fluency, reading, writing and listening skills. The
programme will emphasise on the functional use of the language in order to build confidence among
students. The learning would not be exam-orientated, but fun-filled and activity based.
Evaluation
The on-going evaluation carried out will be both qualitative and quantitative, and will focus on the following
areas:
At the end of the programme, students will be evaluated using formal and informal tests in order to find out
if the project objectives are met.
To evaluate students’ general confidence level - their willingness to participate and come forward to speak in English will also be gauged.
